A couple of weeks ago, our friend Sam called us with a “random” request. She explained that her friend Katie was getting married and her videographer had canceled because they had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19. They were scrambling to find someone because the wedding was three days away. THREE DAYS! We felt horrible that Katie and Jeff had to go through something like this so close to their wedding, so we put together a package that we thought could cover everything they were looking for. Luckily they agreed and we were booked!
We arrived at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ on a BEAUTIFUL summer day. The bridal party was just arriving, so we followed them up to the bridal suite to start getting some clips of Katie getting ready. We met the photographer, Denise from Denise Addona Photography and talked about our styles and strategies for the day, and got to work.
Katie and her bridesmaids were great. We had so much fun watching the hustle and bustle of all of the girls prepping to walk down the aisle. The boys had a much different vibe: hanging out, watching basketball. After everyone was prepped and ready to go, we headed out to the courtyard for Katie and Jeff’s first look.
I’m a sucker for boys who cry and Jeff certainly didn’t disappoint. The pure look of love in their eyes was indescribable. From our short meeting, you can tell Katie and Jeff love to laugh and have a good time. While we were having them pose and “be cute together,” Jeff had Katie in tears laughing from what he was saying.
The ceremony was short and sweet with their closest friends and family in attendance. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they had to minimize their wedding guest list. Did I mention this wedding was supposed to happen in December? That’s right, they moved it up four months because of all of this craziness going on in the world. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful and perfect day.
Following the ceremony, we went back out to the front of the venue for the outdoor reception. The venue did a great job of keeping all of the tables under the overhang and in the shade, as it was pretty hot out in the sun. The tables were decorated with centerpieces made by Katie’s sister and friend, and various other decorative signage made by @drawingsbyberk was placed around the reception area.
While we had initially told Katie and Jeff that we would be there filming for six hours, we wanted to make sure we had captured all of the important events of the day. At that point we had gotten to capture everything except for the cake cutting. After talking with the maitre d’, the cake was going to be cut within the next hour, so we talked to Katie and Jeff and stayed to make sure we got some shots of it.
All in all, it was a great day! For a wedding that was moved up four months, everything went off without a hitch! Katie and Jeff, thank you so much for trusting us on such short notice with capturing your day. We had such a great time!
